There are so many skin whitening products in the market today. Whitening Soaps. Scrubs for face and body. Lotions. Creams. Whitening toners.
Sometimes, it feels like there’s so much to know and do. Girls getting started, ask themselves, what and how to choose the product I want? How do I maximize my efforts to get the results I want?
Don’t feel overwhelmed! The path to brighter, smoother, whiter skin lies right ahead.
We help you in your quest, so here it is. Welcome to our list: The 10 Do’s and Don’ts of Effective Skin Whitening.
- Do your research.
This is the first and most important rule: know what you are buying before you actually buy. Study how skin whitening works and what ingredients make it happen. It’ll help you understand what’s written on the product label. Make a wishlist of ingredients and benefits you seek. Then look for products that match your list.
- Study product feedback and reviews
There’s lots of information out there to help you purchase. Use the Internet to track down “experiential reviews”; search for beauty bloggers or vloggers who’ve tried the product for a few days or weeks. Read the comments and feedback (both good and bad) on skin whitening products on e-commerce websites from people who actually bought the product.
- Test the product before using it.
Patch tests help you avoid major skin reactions to ingredients in certain product formulas. You should do one especially if you have allergies or sensitive skin.
Apply a small amount of product on your wrist or the inner part of your elbow. For the face, try under your jaw or behind the ear. Leave, undisturbed, for several hours. Your skin should not redden, itch, or burn; wash the product off with soap and water if it does.
- Always apply on clean skin.
Give the product a chance to do its job in the best skin conditions possible. Take a warm bath or shower before applying skin whitening lotion. Remove all wakeup and cleanse your face before applying a whitening toner and moisturizer.
- Protect your skin from the sun
Your skin whitening routine will start giving results almost right away, so protect your efforts! Wear sunscreen religiously before going out. If you’re going to the beach, put on a hat and sunglasses. Most of all, stay consistent with your skin whitening routine, whether you’re at work or on vacation.
- Rest, hydrate, and maintain a good diet
Healthy, luminous skin is achieved both inside and out. Pay closer attention to your diet; eat leaner protein, fruits, and vegetables rich in nutrients and vitamins. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day to keep skin hydrated and to rid the body of toxins. Get regular exercise and a good night’s rest to prevent tired, dull skin.
- Don’t forget to exfoliate.
Skincare whitening fans make exfoliation a fun part of their beauty routine; you should too! Get into the habit of exfoliating once or twice a week to increase skin cell turnover. It’s relaxing, stimulates skin circulation, and preps your skin for maximum moisture absorption.
- Avoid applying products on treated or wounded skin.
If your skin has an open wound, protect the area and let it heal. Give your skin a day off or two after waxing or a chemical peel. When it comes to chronic skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, hold off till your skin recovers from a flare-up.
- Create your own targeted skin whitening system
There are so many products out there that address specific concerns. Deodorants or gels for whiter undearms. Soaps and body wash. Facial wash. Toners. Serums. You studied your products and chosen them well. Now create a system that targets each area you care about and stick to it.
- Don’t overdo it.Once you starting seeing results, don’t overdo it! Don’t use too many products at the same time on the same area of skin – or apply the product more frequently than recommended. Always follow product directions. Cleanse, tone, moisturize, and exfoliate like you always do.
